Hydrotherapy for back to school health

Hydrotherapy supports your immune system to respond to colds and flu

It’s that time again… the kids head back to school, we’re starting to be cooped up inside more, and the cold/ flu season begins. Ugh!

Hydrotherapy, an effective and free treatment can break the cycle and help to keep you and your family healthy all winter.

Hydrotherapy treatment stimulates healing by causing changes in circulation to the internal organs. The contrast of hot-cold creates a pumping of the blood in and out of the associated body part.

In Constitutional Hydrotherapy treatments…

Alternating hot and cold wet towels are applied first to the front, then to the back, of the upper body. This improves blood and lymph circulation and metabolism in the digestive organs. Most of your immune system is located in your core, so increasing circulation to this area makes sure that your immune system sees everything going on in your body and can respond to it. It also increases the amount of oxygen in the bloodstream. Constitutional Hydrotherapy is an effective therapy for not only stimulating the immune system, but also achieving total body detoxification. It has been used for years to detoxify patients with heavy metal exposure, pesticide/herbicide toxicity, and daily toxic buildup from improper diet and lifestyle.

Warming socks…

The simpler version of this that you can do at home, is an easy addition to your bedtime routine. Wet a pair of cotton ankle socks in cold water, wring them out very well and put them on your warm feet. Then, put on a pair of dry wool socks over the cotton ones. It feels a little weird at first, but the socks quickly warm up, and by morning, both pair of socks are warm dry. Make sure you check in with your ND if that’s not the case!

Hydrotherapy works alongside other naturopathic therapies (changes in diet, homeopathy, biotherapeutic drainage) to increase their effectiveness.
